About Rob Knott

I am a UK-based fractional SEO, GEO and AI-search consultant. Organisations bring me in for the difficult part: diagnosing an unexplained decline, planning a risky migration, untangling international search, building a content direction or establishing how to measure visibility in AI-powered discovery.

I started in commercial copywriting, moved into technical SEO, led search strategy for large and complex websites, and spent nearly five years at LinkedIn working across communities, creators and AI-assisted content systems. That combination is why I can move between crawlability and rendering, content architecture and on-page quality, and the newer questions surrounding citations, entities and visibility in AI-powered discovery.

Today, the work spans multi-brand GEO analysis, technical investigations, migrations, AI-search baselines, content strategy, developer enablement and senior advisory. I work project by project, on contract or as a fractional specialist: establish the evidence, design the approach, help the team implement it and make the result measurable. Current and recent enterprise experience includes the Stellantis portfolio through Performics and major visitor, technology and consumer brands through Monks.

Strategic advice grounded in implementation

Technical SEO has always required close partnership with developers: defining requirements for templates, Core Web Vitals, rendering, structured data, migrations and technical QA. Building with modern AI-assisted development tools has deepened that understanding and made me better at writing specifications, prototyping solutions and judging what is genuinely practical.

I use AI to increase leverage, not remove accountability. The useful pattern is evidence, automation and scale with a human still responsible for judgement, quality control and intervention.

Self-taught and highly self-directed, I moved from retail management into digital in 2014 and built my career through curiosity, sustained learning and practical experimentation.

I learn quickly, stay close to emerging technology and build practical solutions rather than waiting for perfect conditions. I take the work seriously without taking myself too seriously, and value humour, candour and generosity in a team.

A flexible toolkit for evidence, delivery and measurement

I choose tools around the decision the work needs to support. The important part is how the evidence connects, where judgement is applied and whether the outcome can be implemented and measured.
