Strategic Search Advisory

I provide a senior external perspective when a team needs to choose a direction, challenge a proposal, establish governance, build a workflow or get an important search initiative moving.

Senior input at the point it changes the outcome

Some search problems do not need another delivery team. They need an experienced person to define the question, test the assumptions and help the people already in place choose a direction. That is the role of strategic advisory.

The work can support one decision or continue across a defined programme. It remains centred on outcomes, evidence and capability rather than recurring reports with no clear decision attached.

Questions I can help teams answer

The engagement is shaped around the organisation, but common questions include how to approach AI search, whether a migration plan protects organic demand, where technical investment will matter, how to structure a content programme and what should be automated.

  • What should our AI-search programme measure and who should own it?
  • Which search risks belong in a platform or CMS decision?
  • Is an audit finding material enough to justify engineering work?
  • How should content, PR, product and SEO collaborate?
  • Which tools do we need and which processes can we build ourselves?
  • How do we explain uncertainty and progress to leadership?

Remote workshops that produce usable outputs

Workshops are prepared around a decision, not a generic presentation. Pre-work establishes the context and evidence. The session is used to surface constraints, make choices and assign ownership. Afterwards, the team receives a concise record of decisions, actions and unresolved questions.

Tools and automation where they genuinely help

I build practical systems as well as advising on them. That can include research workflows, content briefing, repeatable QA, prompt-set management, reporting structures or small internal tools. Automation is used to remove repeated effort and improve consistency while keeping judgement with the team.

What you receive

  • Focused discovery and definition of the decision or programme
  • Independent review of plans, evidence, vendors or proposed approaches
  • Decision papers, roadmaps and stakeholder-ready recommendations
  • Remote workshops and working sessions
  • Practical governance, measurement and ownership models
  • Lightweight tools or automations where they remove repeated effort

What the work is designed to change

  • Quicker decisions with assumptions made visible
  • A workable plan across teams with different priorities
  • Better use of specialist tools and external suppliers
  • Capability transferred into the organisation

Common questions

Is strategic advisory an ongoing retainer?+

It can be a short defined project or a time-limited advisory arrangement. The scope identifies the decisions, access and outputs so the work does not become an open-ended production queue.

Can you work with our existing agency or SEO team?+

Yes. I can act as an independent reviewer, specialist contributor or senior partner to an established internal or agency team.

Can you build the workflow you recommend?+

Often, yes. I can prototype and build lightweight tools, automations, templates and measurement workflows when that is the most practical way to leave the team with a usable system.
